Product Overview

The Gator G158V is a vehicle-specific reverse camera for the Isuzu D-Max. It replaces the factory tailgate handle with a camera housing no drilling required. Unlike the Navara cameras (G156V, G157V), the G158V does not accommodate a factory tailgate lock it is only suitable for D-Max models without a factory locking tailgate.

The loop system configures parking guidelines and mirror image at installation:

• Green loop: Default parking guidelines ON → cut to remove guidelines
• White loop: Default normal (non-mirrored) image → cut to enable mirror image

IP68 rated, –20°C to +70°C. 150-degree field of view. 0.2 lux minimum illumination.

Some Isuzu D-Max grades feature a factory locking tailgate — a mechanism that locks the tailgate closed as part of the vehicle's central locking. The G158V tailgate handle housing does not include a lock provision and is incompatible with this system. Only D-Max models with a standard non-locking tailgate handle are suitable. Confirm your D-Max grade before purchasing.

Why is only the SX grade compatible from 2016–2020?

From 2016 onwards, higher-spec D-Max grades (LS, LS-U, LS-M, etc.) were equipped with a factory locking tailgate, making the G158V incompatible. The SX is the base-grade D-Max (2016–2020) which retained the non-locking tailgate handle. Confirm your grade with the F.A.E. team before purchasing.

What loop cuts are required for a standard Australian reverse camera installation?

The G158V defaults to normal (non-mirrored) image with guidelines ON. For a standard Australian PAL installation with mirror image and no guidelines: cut the white loop (mirror image) and the green loop (remove guidelines). If you prefer to keep guidelines, only cut the white loop.

Does installation require drilling?
